Electric Motor Testing & Inverter Testing

Dewesoft power analyzer offers combined electric motor and inverter testing solutions that allow the measurement of a high number of voltage and current input channels. It is possible to measure up to eight 3-phase systems along with temperature, vibration, RPM, torque, CAN, etc. with a single device completely synchronized.

Electric Motor Testing

As time progresses electric motors must fulfill higher and higher requirements concerning energy efficiency. Since 2011 all asynchronous motors must fulfill at least the level IE2 according to the IEC 60034 standard. Before this standard was established losses were considered at 0.5%. Now they must be determined. The efficiency and losses determination of motors require the highest accuracy of the whole measurement chain.

​Dewesoft power analyzer solution and the possibility of the additional software sensor calibration guarantee the highest accuracy for all measurement results. The modular hardware concept allows for the measurement of up to 12-phase motors as well as mechanical parameters such as speed, torque and deformation. Additionally, parameters such as vibration,  sound level, temperature, etc. can be measured fully synchronized to the power parameters. Power quality analysis (fundamental power harmonics, THD, etc.) complements the analysis capabilities.

Inverter Testing

Dewesoft power analyzer allows comprehensive and highly accurate analyses of a variety of inverters. A combination of modular, highly accurate data acquisition systems supports the measurement of all input/ output configurations (up to 7-phase AC systems).

Fundamental frequencies from 0.5 Hz up to 3 kHz as well as switching frequencies up to multiple hundred kHz can be analyzed. From efficiency determination to a detailed analysis of each switching pulse. Raw data storing allows analysis and presentation of each individual switching pulse (e.g. transient behavior in the scope). The power quality module automatically calculates THD, harmonics, etc. Transient recording allows capturing voltage and current peaks (e.g. for long cable lengths).

High-edge steepness of the inverter output (up to 10 kV/µs) can create capacitive leakage or high motor bearing currents. These factors can harm the motor. Dewesoft can measure all these parameters easily. All the analysis options are available during the measurement itself. The voltage steepness (dU/dt) for each individual impulse can be determined and statistically classified. This analysis possibility makes the design and testing of inverters and filters much easier.

Combined Electric Motor & Inverter Testing

Combined motor and inverter testing require a high number of input channels for both voltage and current measurement as well as completely synchronized data acquisition. Dewesoft solution makes it possible to measure 8x 3-phase systems using a single device. This unique feature allows measuring the whole power system completely synchronous. It combines all the functionalities of the motor and inverter testing as described above and further allows the measurement of other parameters.

Thus far, typical testbed applications required multiple devices such as a Power Analyzer, Oscilloscope, Data Logger, CAN Logger, etc. The Dewesoft solution makes it possible to measure and analyze all these with a single device. Raw data is stored, with the full sampling rate and all analyses can be done online.

The unique post-processing functionalities of Dewesoft DAQ software allow you to perform analysis after the measurement has been completed. It's even possible to change settings or correct measurement mistakes, for example, changing the phase voltages if they were connected incorrectly. In this case, the measurement doesn't have to be repeated. This is a completely new workflow that gives you a lot of freedom and flexibility.
